Fox and Friends blasted for ‘equal time’ complaints after Kamala Harris’s SNL episode

Fox and Friends found itself part of a heated argument after the show was dragged into drama regarding Equal Time rules for political candidates after NBC was called out for violating the FCC rules by having Kamala Harris on Saturday Night Live.
The morning talk show has not been immune to being called out for its coverage of the leadup to the presidential election. Hosts Ainsley Earhardt, Lawrence Jones, Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade showed “selective outrage” in the last week, both on “garbage” related comments and when they seemingly ignored a comment by Donald Trump that threatened violence against Liz Cheney.
However, they became a part of a different conversation after Harris took a hilarious swipe at Trump during her surprise appearance on the late night comedy sketch show.
Harris’s appearance on the show immediately was met with rebuke after FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr posted on X that it was an effort to blatantly “evade the FCC’s Equal Time rule.”
NBC then later filed a notice with the organization and said it would provide Trump with “equal time” as well — and the situation has led to hot debate on social media.
Many took to X to then call out the fact that Fox and Friends specifically, in addition to other Fox shows, was also in violation of the rule, as Trump often featured on their programs, whereas Harris never did.
“In that case, Fox and Friends owes Kamala Harris 167 appearances,” one person wrote.
“Does Fox and Friends invite Kamala on every morning?” another asked.
“So Trump having a consistent spot on Fox and Friends whenever he feels is just fine. My god you guys have ruined the Republican party,” another said.

“Oh please, Trump is on Fox and Friends every other day. Give me a break,” another pointed out.
“Trump has gone on Fox and Friends for friendly chats like 367 times I’d be a little more discerning here,” another shared.
The Equal Time rule requires broadcasters to give legally qualified candidates for office equal access to the airwaves.
However, according to FCC rules, exceptions apply when candidates are on “bona fide newscasts, interview programs, certain types of news documentaries and during on-the-spit-coverage of bona fide news events.”
